Re: 284 DAMAGED BRASS?

We need a simple tool that looks like a shell holder. Insert shell into drill press and slide the tool over the base to cut the proper dimension.

Re: Accuracy Load for XTP vs FTX

fxt and sst are the same thing. I could be wrong here, but I believe in the beginning the sst had a more ridged nose. This bullet was used in the sabots for muzzle loaders. The harder point was changed to the flexible tip, hence FXT.

Re: Hornady die question

Taper crimp only. To set up the sseating die: 1. Insert a cartridge in the shell holder. 2. Run the ram all the way up. 3. Screw in the full length die 4. Screw in the die until it stops (not on the nut). This is the point where the cartridge is just contacting the roll crimp. 5. Back die off one tu...

Re: New Powders from Hornady

Yea -- and it is in 90's here now -- that can be a consideration. Is it temperature sensitive? There is an experiment for you.

Re: Rainier LeadSafe Bullets 45 Caliber (452 Diameter) 250 Grain

Slash -- past posts say they don't work. Strip the rifling. Hoot had some posts on these. Very soft and thin copper coating.

Re: I don't recommend the 240XTP mag bullet for hunting pig

OMJ -- I has purchases -- thru Midway -- seconds or defective bullets from Hornady. They are horrible. Wished I wouldn't have spent the money on them. All of the factory new bullets have been perfect.

Re: I don't recommend the 240XTP mag bullet for hunting pig

OMJ -- these 240's your using aren't by chance seconds sold by Midway this past winter. I picked up 200 and they are junk. Bad noses, oversize, undersized, cannelures vary -- not sure they were worth the price.

240 grain XTP seconds from Midway

I purchased a couple hundred Hornady 240 grain xtp/mag bullets from Midway earlier this year. These were sold as seconds. Last night I loaded up some of these and they are truly seconds -- very poor. Nose shapes vary, diameters vary, crimp groove location varies -- anyone else buy some of these? Wha...

Re: Hornady 300 XTP Mag for the 450?

30.5 grs or 32.0 grs worked for me -- with WSR. Less charge being more accurate.

Re: I don't recommend the 240XTP mag bullet for hunting pig

OMJ -- I was being a little "tongue in cheek" -- as I said -- "s--t happens". You very well could have hit the beast -- but without a recovery, who knows where -- that is not a condemnation of skill or accuracy -- it is the reality of "in the field". I have seen lots of...
