Ross contacted me VIA email to let me know that it will be two to three months before he can start making Brakes again. Please keep Ross in your prayers for a speedy recovery.
Thanx.

Glad to hear that he is back up and feeling better, I might have to finally order one of these!

For those of you that use them, how much does it affect the noise level?

Hard to say since I wear plugs whenever I'm shooting, but the lateral blast knocks folks stuff off of adjacent shooting positions on the rifle range. It's great for clearing out some room around me. I have yet to discharge mine while actually hunting, so I figured I'd find out when the time came. The one time I shot mine without the brake, it was still loud as our rifle range shooting positions are under a roofed area and the sound bounces around a lot.

Hunting, you would probably withstand one or two shots....with ears ringing. At the range firing repeatedly, Hearing protection is a must and keep stuff away from the sides. Like Hoot says, most folks to your left and right are going to need a diaper change.
Please keep in mind that a True Brake usually MUST redirect gases back towards the shooter in order to tame recoil. Note the gills on the Ross brake are angled so as to sheer gases of to the side and rearward while the three holes on top sheer gases to push the muzzle back down as the barrel attempts to rise.
This video will give you some idea of the control I have now with the Ross Brake. There is a few slow motion sequences but it is hard to tell about the side blast due to other factors coming into play, but note the recoil.

Now before you get all hyped up, let me say that I also have a Noonan A1 Recoiless Stock on my 450 Bushmaster which is working in concert with the Brake to control recoil.
More on this awesome stock can be found by doing a search on "Recoil and what to do about it" here on this forum.
This group was shot at 50 yards with my Ross Brake.

Here is a sample of the various sizes before Ross finishes them out.

I figured it would have to increase the noise. I always wear hearing protection when I'm at the range, but I don't when I'm elk hunting. I've considered it know that I have a nice set of Peltor electronic muffs, but I cover a lot of ground when elk hunting and they would get uncomfortable. The reduced recoil would be nice for the bench, but I'm not sure if I want the extra blast out in the field.

Just thinking ot loud, since I don't have a Ross brake yet.
1. Doesn't seem that hard to switch out, Ross for the range, Izzy for hunting.
Correct if I'm wrong because I haven't done it yet.
2. My biggest concern: how would that effect your trajectory or POI.
Seems like it would.
