Thanks Texas Sheepdawg, i have 700 acres in east texas where the pigs have definately mixed with the russian variety and they are overrunning my deer population and destroying my feeders. I bought a Marlin 338 express recently and take them down pretty easily. But i hate cranking on the lever between shots. my 77mm um does the trick out to 400 yards but it also has a bolt. my 6.5 grendel works well but it sometimes takes 2 shots to finish those monsters off. I have 400+ pound pigs on my place in heards of 20-30 at a time. I think they are eating my deer!

Hey, i might look you up. I have 350 acres in Lanius pretty close to you with the same problem. And 350 acres in Gober just south of Bonham. I have never seen so many pigs populate an area that didnt have any in the last 5 years. Now they are like roaches. My next tool will be a Barret 50. I want to reach out and touch them, i bet i could get 4 or 5 at a time with that!

You will have no issues dropping big pigs with this. It has dropped everything in it's tracks that I have shot, from porcupines to deer to black bear, and not to mention the occasional tree and engine block. LOL

I nailed this one with my 300 win mag at 200 yards. This pig weighed 300 on the hoof. I bet that 416 packs a wallop! Pigs like this are common on my property near Lake of the Pines.

Does your 450 have a 20" or 16" barrel? Is there any ballistic difference between the 2? I have no experience with the 450. My largest caliber is a 338 Marlin Express pushing a 250 Hornady.

Expect about 5% more velocity from the 20". That's what I use. All but one of my hunting rifles have barrels that long or longer. With the right hand loads and me doing my part, I can get consistent sub-MOA accuracy at 100 yards. That's all the longer range I have access to at the club down the road. That is, when the snow is not 5 feet deep with the snowiest months yet to come.
