New Savage and Mauser 450BM barrels with QPQ

Postby Rhineland Arms » Thu Oct 12, 2017 8:57 pm

We just ran a small batch of our barrels through the QPQ process and they have turned out very well. Our first time with that finish. We are also finally putting an 11 degree crown on them. As soon as I get my action back down to Houston I will get out and try one for accuracy.

Nice, I wish mine had the finish. I am still wrestling on how I want to Finnish it.

I will be shopping for a 450 barrel for a Savage soon. Do you have these in stock already, or will you be doing a production run in the near future?

Also, is it feasible to send you a muzzle brake to add the qpq so it matches the barrel?

PM me if you want to take this offline, and we can discuss via email/text/phone.

Thanks

Hi Ballisticedge, you can swap that barrel out for one with QPQ if you like. We are fine with barrel swaps.

We do stock these barrels and have several on hand. We are going to start running more parts with the QPQ finish and I dont have an issue with you sending the part in. Please note that I am not sure when we will do our next run but I suspect mid Nov.

also the QPQ process went really well but out of 20 barrels we sent in for a test run, one came back with a kind of mottled finish. I think they can re-run the parts but wanted to let you know there is a risk to it. The company doing our qpq does them for one of the largest gun companies in Texas, so there no small outfit.

Moved this post to the Market Place where you’ll get more views. Original post will still be ghosting in the bolt actions section too.
