Have you graphed the recoil impulse substituting dead weights in the stock for the spring assemblies?

Oh yes! It takes over 1lb of inert weight to do what 1 of my 6oz reducers does. Or, if what you mean is oz. for oz. A 6oz. inert = 16.8% reduction and my 6oz. reducer = 28.% reduction.

Thanks, that's pretty impressive. Does increasing the number of reducers in parallel result in a summing of reduction or is it non-linear? IE 2=1.414 x 28% 3=1.737 x 28%, etc.

Good question...No, it is not Linear. There is not much gain in using 2 reducers of the same weight unless you preload one recoil spring with a shim so that it reacts a little slower . I have a 6oz. and an 8oz. Use one or the other or both. Both will achieve about a 35% reduction.

Thanks;
When my upper arrives, I'll see how it and the A2 stock balance out. That'll drive whether I add additional weight to the back of the it. Interesting solution. It would be interesting to do some experiments with magnetic repulsion. There are neodymium cobalt magnets out there the exert amazing amounts energy for their dimunitive size. They come in many form factors, one being Flat Washer that could allow a guide rod through the center. Depending upon the size, they can exert up to ~50 pounds of repulsion in pairs. Just an idea...
