I went real high tech on this one.
Rustoleum coal black BBQ grill high heat paint.
Hey, what can I say? I'm a high tech red neck.
But seriously, I can not justify the cost of Durabake after they tack on the ORMD HAZ MAT charge. Under the current circumstances, it's better to go with high heat spray paint for now as this rifle is not going to be getting subjected to rapid fire. The main purpose of a finish in this case is to take away the 'shiney'. I doubt this rifle will ever see a range or a competition. The deer, coyotes, etc. are not going to care how I finished it and frankly my hunting buddies would probably do the same thing. And if I scratch it up or blast the finish off, I won't be cussing myself. I paid $6.00.
With Durabake, I would end up paying SIX TIMES that. I do wish that I could find it local but no luck there.
Oh well...

Now, see, you went and got all high tech, and here I was just gonna color mine with Sharpie, and El Marko!

Tried that. It still stays shiney.

Yeah, I used Duracoat on my brake and barrel and there's a few chips at the gas ports after about 300 rounds from the 450. Everywhere else it's good though and the Remington 7600 still looks perfect. I'll just touch up the break with high heat paint.
