Talked to Ross on Sunday night, paid $40 with paypal, and voila it's here in my hands today - just 3 days later!!!

Looks great, can't wait to try it out.

Specs: 1" SS, Taper to 0.80" to match the size of the factory crush washer, 11/16 X 24tpi, bore sized by Ross for the 450b - he knows what size to bore it to.

This sounds like a good deal on a compensator, what are you guys using to tighten/time it? A strap wrench?

Mine timed perfectly with the original crush washer right out of the box. I seem to recall reading that other folks had the same experience. I tightened mine by hand with an appropriately sized brass punch stuck in one side and out the other and it hasn't moved in 725 rounds now.

I had wondered about using a lever, but it seemed so "crude."

I might add that I put mine on with a little anti-seize grease on the threads for when I needed to take it off. Some folks don't think that one through and realize that some of the cleaning liquids that come out the end of the barrel wick back along the threads. Over repeated exposure and the drying in between, the threads can get terribly corroded and lock up. Copper removing solvents are infamous for that. I like silicon dialectric grease because it doesn't break down from heat like petrochemical greases and it's resistant to solvents. I make my own special mix of lubricating grease from dialectric grease and .25 micron hexagonal boron nitride (HBN) powder for uses where a stiff grease is necessary. Both compounds are inert and provide a double whammy for lubrication. Second to that is dialectric grease and .5 micron tungsten di-sulfide (WS2) powder. Dow Corning Molycoat G-n Molybdenum di-sulfide (MOS) grease is also very good for lighter grease. There I go again...
