His name is Ben and we are out of Marietta, GA, but hunt in Alabama next to Fort Benning. The deer have been very finicky this year and seem to really be moving at night only. In several hunts this year we have only seen 1-2 deer here and there. I normally see some Good size groups and even groups of 4/5 8 pointers together. Last year I saw 50 deer in one sitting.

This was the last hunt for the kids this year and this was the last hunt with 5 minutes left before we had to go. The deer gods were favorable to him. It is too bad that the day before a bruiser 10 showed at 50 yards but over at 9 oclock and no way for him to get a rest for a shot.
I have an adult hunt in a few weeks so hopefully there will be some .450 pounding going on. You have to love 1 a day regulations.

He thanks you for the comments and looks forward to chasing his first buck next year.

His science fair project is the affects of soda on tooth enamel. I got the lucky task of removing the teeth from this deer. I think I could have pulled my own and been fitted for dentures quicker. :D

Well give Ben a pat on the back and tell him I said "good job!"

I'm seeing the same type of thing with deer acting "spooky" or "off". We have some fairly large groups of 9 - 13 deer (does and yearlings) and they seem to be moving mainly late in the evening or at night. If you do see them out in the fields during the day, as soon as the truck slows or turn's around, they flag and head to the woods.

Not sure how many dentists use a machete, 20 tooth hand saw, and a 1" wood chisel but it seems to get the job done.

I'm there. (That is, as long as Ben and papa leave their dentist tools at home).
