.450 + 8 yr old = First Deer

I would say that I have tamed the recoil as my 8 year old son got his first deer today and did not miss a beat on execution. He did eventually admit to being a little nervous and pulling the shot. That is the beauty of the .450, a build in handicap factor.
A nice 50 yd stoning shot for his first.

Outstanding! I have wanted my six year old to shoot a deer with one of my collapsible stock ARs. I was afraid the 450 would be too much. He will be 7 next hunting season so I will let him go for it.

16" upper on factory Bush. Lower.

On the recoil side, Benni Cooli Brake, Hoots CCWS, Tubbs buffer spring. Amazingly soft now on the recoil side.

I put a JP 4# trigger in prior to doing my own trigger work on mil spec units. The issue with young kids is trigger weight. An 8# factory trigger will not work. I think a two stage would be even worse unless the kid has plenty of trigger time behind that gun. This was his first pull on the .450, but I have trained him on .22's for hundreds of rounds mainly on irons.

Full front rest. I built the lightest 10/22 possible, 4 lbs, and they could not handle it offhand.

It has an Ace stock but the L.O.P. is about an inch or so long. A 6 way would be a better choice but this is actually my primary gun and I wanted a soft warm cheek at 35* outside.

P.E.P.R. mount with a Mueller 4x10x44 illumimated reticle. This is a very lightweight scope but it is a great match. The quality for $ is unbelievable. $150.00. Had I found these scopes prior, all my guns would wear them except for my 35mm I.O.R.; Some things money can buy.

Tell the boy congrats! I bet you are one proud papa! You should enter the story into the 2011 hunting contest.

Another one bites the dust!
