As big as they are, there really isnt anything on the North American Continent any bigger or badder. Except maybe a grizzly.

My understanding is that as long as they aren't stampeding (as glamorized in many of the old western paintings), shooting the alpha buffalo just results in the rest of the herd milling around, as in the video. You could then continue shooting them one by one until they were all gone.

Not much of a sport with a high powered rifle, a lot harder with a bow and arrow, which is why many of the plains Indians (er, Native Americans) resorted to driving whole herds off cliffs and collecting the skins and meat at the bottom - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_jump

You mean they had "gravitationally-processed, impact-tenderized" buffalo bites?? :)
