Second kill with the 450.... first buck

Postby tannerlst » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:51 pm

well set out some alfalfa and corn and a camera day before thanksgiving. did a little predator calling and saw nothing. went back out around 4pm , walked 4-500 yards to where i set the corn and alfalfa out and as soon as i walked up over the hill and look where i put it i saw a 8 point buck standing there getting a bite to eat, he looked up at me as soon as i saw him, then got a 450 bushmaster bullet in the neck and exited his opposite side behind the shoulder. he was kinda facing me when i shot. dropped like a sack of rocks.
he showed up about 20 minutes before i did it from what the camera says.... not the biggest buck but he's my first , and first big game kill for the .450 with no tracking!i'd hate to track a deer in this terrain. shot between Leakey and Campwood in Real county TX. was the quickest hunt i've ever had.

Did the buck come out of the Sputnik capsule? :)

Did you take some pictures of inside the chest cavity? Would liked
To have seen what the bullet entry and exit looked like. Too
Bad that you couldn't recover the bullet.

Bullet recovery is rather difficult on a whitetail.... unless you like the longer, smellier path :|
