Sweet redemption!

Postby MOUNTIN DU » Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:01 pm

 after a 145yd botched shot  removed a horn from the last deer i shot with my 450bm, :? and a month of waiting... redemption is finally mine! :D the 250gr FTX found it's mark perfectly after a 205yd trek from my stand to the deer, right where my 200yd reticle was resting.

:) with three kills so far, this was my first real test of the 250ftx :? two of the previous kills were a head shot at 45yds and a high neck shot at 90yds. :| oh... and that horn from last month  i'm impressed with how little tissue damage there is. this shot entered low between two ribs and exited between two ribs cutting the heart. neither side showing any bloodshot tissue. a quick csi of the wound channel showed significant expansion though in the lungs and a promonate blood stream that followed the bullet as it exited. :) result was a 40yd death run and both horns recovered ;)

p.s. :| if you remember the shot i flubbed last year on a nice 8pt at 60yds  and then questioned the possibility of a pass thru with no expansion  is a myth. i obviously missed that shot clean.

:) well that ends the "modern" weapons (450bm) season for me :? with just a horn and an 8pt :| but it was a great season in all. a healthy deer herd at or near capacity means more culling next year ;) i still have till jan.31 to get another with my other favorite primative rifle... the 45-70! ;)
