Happy Holidays. Gun season has closed in Ohio where we can take only one buck per year.
I took an point with a crossbow in October so antlerless only by gun for me.

And I have to use the AR in handgun configuration.

First day : had to pass an 8 point at 100 yards, then a spike at 150.
Missed a trotting coyote at 30 yards for too much lead then a misfeed prevented the followup.
An after lunch nap in the treestand let a pair of does pass at 25 to 100 yards.
Finally had a stationary target at 120 yards downhill across the wind.
I heard the impact and was stunned the deer walked into the woods without dropping right there.
I quickly found it lying on the ground but it jumped.
I made a quartering away shot thru the flank that hit the spine and DRT.
Recovered the bullet, both jacket and core intact.
Examination showed the windage pushed the first bullet back 12 inches for a gut shot !!
Last day : a downhill 70 yard shot thru both shoulders, DRT, with a bit of scope burn for me.
So 2 for 2 with Hornady ammo thru a 16 inch BM factory upper on a Rock River pistol lower (No buttstock).
I love this thing !

Looks as though starting this fall you can put a rifle lower on that 450! They have proposed making all straight wall rifles from .357 to .50 legal for deer hunting. There is no opposition and it is expected to be passed by the wildlife council.

I am hoping for that but plan to attend the meetings next month at the district office.
