Good Luck to you Al and all the other Michiganders going out in the morning with their 450BMs. Stay safe and shoot straight. Hope to see some pictures of the deer taken during the season posted in the "Trophy Wall" Thread.

plant_one, Hope your new food plot brings the big one in for you. Good Luck

thanks Thom, but while the new plot is on our property, its not at the stand wehre i normally hunt.

it did produce a nice doe, but no bucks were seen on it opening weekend

we took a total of 7 deer this week, and sadly had two lost due to the rain on Wednesday washing out the blood trail (doe and a spike) after hours of tracking.

tally for the opener follows

(2) does
(3) 6 point (one of them mine, other was sister-in-laws first buck)
7 point
8 point

my 6 and kelvarr's 7 and 8 were taken with 450 bushmasters.

450 bushmaster - 3
deer - 0

he got the 8 pt opening day, double lung, liver and heart. 7 point the next evening, high shoulder spinal. the 8 ran about 50 yds i think and collapsed. 7pt collapsed like a sack of grain falling off the tailgate of a pickup.

my 6 was at 85 or so yds about 5pm on sunday evening. double lung, liver, and clipped the rear of the heart (quartering towards me slightly) - ran about 40 yds and collapsed coming out the back of the spruces he was playing peekaboo in and out of when i nailed him. caught a rib going in, one coming out - and a mess of hamburger in the middle. exit hole was 1¼-1½". bullets performed perfectly. great blood trail, super easy track.

thanks to being out in the rain, i'm drinking my coffee today well laced with nyquill and hacking up lovely yellow lung biscuits and actually didnt hunt on sat morning i was feeling so crappy.

pics to follow once i get them uploaded and such.
