Nikko Stirling Scopes

Hello everybody.

I have no experience with these scopes and I know a few of you are running them on your Thumpers. I am not looking for a scope for Thumper but a varmint rifle for zapping these pesky prairie dogs we have an abbundence of here in Colorado. What are your thoughts on these scopes as compared to say a Leupold VX-2 or Nikon Prostaff or Buckmaster?

Scope is going to be mounted on a 223 Remington 700 Tactical so recoil is not a factor.

Looking for solid adjustments, optical clarity, reticule thickness, that kind of stuff.

Thanks in advance! Happy shooting.

B.

These scopes are pretty nice. I have been running a smaller Nikko on my Thumper, but I recently received a Nikko Stirling 4X16X50mm side focus Mil Dot with 30mm tube and sun shade. I have not even had it outside yet but so far, it's nice. It's on my Thumper due to the Nikko scopes being engineered to withstand the heavier recoils found in Air Rifles.
But have you considered this scope?

I have two of these with the sun shade. They are very nice.

Thanks Tex. I've been kicking around a few ideas for scopes. Not sure what to go with yet.

Looking forward to the link.

Just viewed the link. I had not been considering this scope. I do remember you and Hoot having a campfire discussion about this very scope though. I may just have to put it on the list of things to investigate though...

If anybody else has any info on the Nikko Stirling or the scope in the link, please chime in!

Thanks.

B.

Here is a picture of my new Nikko
Image
The clicks are 1/8" @ 100'Yds the turrets are indexed and lock down once set. Just pull the turret up to turn then push it back down to lock it. It has a side focus from 25 yards - 800+.
It comes with snap lense caps and a sun shade. Reticle is Mil Dot.

Thanks Tex. That looks nice! If you get around to it, would you let me know how the scope preforms?

Thanks,
B

Will do. I am going to be spending some time reloading some FMJs for tests and I am going to need to re sight in the new scope soon. Right now, the WX has gone bad so it's gonna be a while. Rifle range and pistol range are drenched.
