I put the Nikon M-223 1-4X on mine. It holds zero, I'm happy with it.
Midway and other places usually has it on sale.

Either one is an excellent choice. Monarchs are great scopes and my personal favorite in terms of bang for buck. My 450b wears a 3-12x42 SF. If I wasn't using it for load work, I'd probably go with a lower magnification given the fact that where I hunt deer, I'll never need that much. I have a Monarch 6-24x50 SF on my .260 Remington.

Sportsmans Guide is carrying several "Counter Sniper" scopes in their latest catalogue and on their website (see http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=606294 for one of them). The are all MSRP's at $2,000 to $4,000 and reduced to $500 to $1,000 (all numbers approximate). For example, the 10-40x56mm is listed as $2,860 but on sale for $565.97. I have never heard of a scope in this MSRP price range and I am totally unfamiliar with Counter Sniper as a brand. According to SG, these are military overruns.

Anyone have any knowledge of these and is this a good deal?

Is This them?

Here's a not very flattering review from Snipers Hide and I agree Bertellium-Zantitium sounds like an idea that Bert Zant in Marketing came up with. ;)

That's the one (or that'r the ones).

Well, there are some good reviews here - http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=49821. They appear to be written by people who actually own the scopes. However, I agree that Bert Zant probably wrote the ad copy. For the money, I would probably go with Leopold [sp?].

I have a 4-16 SF Monarch on my 5.56 AR, and it's a good scope for precision work, and the BDC reticule on that scope is a very close match to the 77 grainers at 2750fps that I'm using in that rifle. That setup takes me out to 500 yards with confidence. However, I think a much better value for the .450B would be the Leupy Ultimate Slam, or Nikon Omega, either of which provides a BDC reticule closely matched to the 250 grain FTX at 2,200 fps. If you haven't tried a BDC reticule that really matches your load, you're in for a treat :) Either of these will get you out to 250 yards with good loads, and 300 yards with some practice. Play with that for awhile and the shots at 100 and under will take care of themselves. I've never shot through the Omega, but I like the circles on the reticule of the Monarch better than the black dots on the Ultimate slam. The Ultimate Slam uses the top of the thick portion of the lower post as the 300 yard hold point which completely obscures the "dot and circle" center of the targets I use, but I don't think it would be much of an issue on game. I'm not sure if the Omega gives you a hold point for 300 or not. Anyone using one?

Anyone have any experience with Leatherwood optics? In the past, I have heard they were "low end" and to avoid them. However, particularly with the M-1000, they seem to be getting better reviews these days. I was also kinda liking their red dot, the one with 50mm lenses.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
