I have been switching back and forth between a scope and red dot on larue mounts on my 450 carbine. Well, for my birthday I decided to buy a dedicated .22 m4 upper. As soon as I had that in hand, I knew I had to have a matching upper in 5.56. I ended up with matech rear sights on them and have enjoyed shooting with them very much. My red dot quickly found a home on my new .22, leaving me without a short range sight for the thumper. It turns out a matech sight fits perfectly under my scope... now all I need is a gas block height front sight.
Are any of y'all running a flip up front sight with the factory handguard? I am worried that the sight post will be too tall to fold down properly. I've thought of going to a railed handguard, but this would be the cheapest and easiest option.

Bushy sells one, or at least they did, that is designed for the 450b front block. I have one on mine, works fine, doesn't interfere with scope, Nikon Omega. The one Bushy sells is made by Yankee Hill Machine...YHM may sell them also? You might check the websites...

That's the right one for a railed gas block. The one for the "faux" block on the 20" barrels is slightly different (no rails).

Check out brightflashlights in the vendor section on arfcom. It's been awhile, but they had a great price, and made sure I got right one.

YHM gas block flip ups for $63 shipped. I've only ordered from them once, but wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.
