Iron sites

I have my new upper,,16 inch bushmaster .450,, sighted in with optics,, OK,,switched over to BUIS, found front sight base/gas block is not square to reciver,, checked set screws,, dimples in barrel are not drilled in right place,, anyone have this problem,, to correct I plan to mill a flat / properly indexed and redrill set screw dimplles,,,any other idias???

Had the same problem on my 20" barrel with the "faux" front gas block, was off about two degrees to the right. Turns out it was just tightened down off-axis, must have been a Friday afternoon build at Bushy. Loosened it, engaged dimples correctly, tightened back down, and voila...straight up and down! If your dimples are actually mis-drilled, you have the right idea there. Just be sure to corrosion treat any bare metal you create before reassembling.
