Posted: Thu Dec 06, 2012 5:29 pmIf you were to modify your gas system in the future to rifle length you can use it then and use the carbine length as a port block if you turn it over.

The dummy block is there so you could put a specific YHM flip up sight on it if you wanted BUIS. IIRC, bushmaster had it in their older catalogs, but it was pricey. FYI, I took mine off and used it on my 6.5 Grendel build and it fit perfect. Saved me about 70 bucks. The ID is .750".
