That is due to your mount, not the optic.

That said, I hope everyone knows that the 450b can reach out and touch things a long way further out than most people realize. Even at longer distances and lower velocities, you're still punching a 1/2" hole through the target!

I highly recommend the Nikon Omega (now called Inline) muzzleloader scopes for four reasons:

1 - Constant, longer than usual (5") eye relief which can be important on a rifle that can recoil like the Thumper.
2 - The BDC reticle that they use is very complimentary to the ballistics of the .450 Bushmaster with factory ammo.
3 - More than enough glass for minute-of-deer shots out to 200 yards (mine consistently groups 5 shots in under an inch at 100).
4 - It is a great value at $199, shipped, and you might even find it for less.

I've had a 3-9X on my .450 for the last three years with no issues or complaints. 3-9X is all they offer in that line at this time. Your choice of black, camo or silver.

I'm with AndrewX. As both Nikon, (Inline), and Leupold, (Ultimate slam), offer BDC scopes that exactly match the .450B factory ballistics, I don't see any reason to use anything else. My .450 has had a Leupold 3-9 Ultimate slam on it since day one, (about 6 years now). Once you get proficient with a BDC that matches your ballistics, you'll never go back.

I use a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9 BDC on mine and love it. It will blow ragged holes right through the middle of the bullseye. The BDC with the Hornady factory rounds work great - the center is 100, and it goes down by roughly 50 yard increments with each of the reticles below the center. The bottom post is 350, all of this assumes you are shooting on 9x which I figure is pretty standard for any range in hunting where you will mess with the BDC and not just use the center crosshair. I have the Nikon AR-15 mounts for mine which have held up fine. I did have to rezero it this year - it was shooting about 2 inches high after a year of use in the field.

Guys. You don't have to spend a lot of money to find a rock solid scope.

I have a Leupold VXR with a Ballistic Firedot Reticle. I like the Firedot, but if I had it to do again, I would have gotten a reticle with more divisions. The Ballistic Reticle is good for fast acquisition, but does not have enough divisions for a precise holdover/under at 50 yd intervals out to 300 yards.

This is the one I probably would have gotten - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/325418 ... uctFinding.

That sounds like a great scope Dawg! I put a Weaver Extreme Classic 2.5-10 X 50 with red dot on mine. Seems to work great. I think they are $299 at Natchez Shooting Spply.

I think I found the answer for a question I was going to post :D . The most "effect" BDC system for the 450BM is a muzzle loader style reticle?
I want to set my rifle up for hunting and I don't want to invest in a BDC that will prove useless with the 450BM which I imaging most BDC's designed for more traditional calibers are.
