Randy's Hunting Center in Bad Ax, MI had Leupold make a 3-9 power scope with a dial turret for up to 300 yards. Its set-up for Hornady ammo at 2200 fps.

Price is $300

He may be talking about this one - https://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/shotgunmuzzleloader-scopes/ultimateslam-3-9x40mm/. It is the only result returned from a search on Leupold's website for Hornady, and the price is about right.

Although it is for muzzle loaders and shotguns, that only means it is best suited over the ranges in which the 450BM is useful (up to 300 yards before the 250 gr FTX looses too much velocity and energy, and begins to drop like a rock). I like the ballistic reticle, because it gives you good holdover/under reference marks.

I have a VX-R 3x9-40 mm with the ballistic firedot reticle, and I really like it.

Wow. That's a lot more than $300. I think the accuracy and "limited" range of the BM450 makes a scope that gives you good holdover / under info is sufficient without having the CDS. But I'm sort of old school.

It is a VX-2 with add on custom dial for elevation.

I have the vx3i 3.5-10 cds wind plex with the custom dial set up for factory ammo and I can tell you that I range tested it at 200 and 300 yrds and it is dead on. Dial makes one revolution from 100 to 350 yrds. What more does a guy need hot this round. Also came with a wind drift chart in moa.

That is the scope I've been looking at. Also looking at Burris Veracity and the new Tract optics. I've been wondering if a illuminated reticle is worth the extra money

Black reticle on a black hogs at night don't work, ask me how I know.

Leupold however, is a little TOO proud of their illuminating scopes pricewise (at least for my tastes compared to other offerings).

If price is no object, and you're a diehard Leupold fan. Well...they have illuminated, what are you waiting for?

I wanted illuminated ballistic plex reticle, with a lifetime warranty, and a scope that is double sprung, to handle the recoil of the 450 (and last), at a more modest price. My vote goes to the Burris FullField E1 3-9x40 Riflescope with Illuminated Ballistic Plex E1 Reticle Model 200322. It's street price for these features is hard to beat.

Didn't see a need for an elevation dial for a host of reasons that I wont get into here unless asked. But will divulge, since 300yrds is 'bout the max with this round, and most animals will be taken at 200yrds (or less, by me, with this equipment). The Plex is a quick alternative way to get off an accurate shot without monkeying with dials.
