Do the math.

It takes a 200gr FTX .000867 seconds to exit a 16" 1:24 barrel at 2412fps (realistic accomplishment).

As it exits the muzzle It has rotated .66 revolutions.

Calculate Rev/sec
1/.000867 = 1153 X .66 = 761.24

Convert Rev/sec to Rev/min
761.24 x 60 (seconds in a minute) = 45,764 RPM

That's a lot of stability! Image

EDIT: if I don't have that right, I'll feel pretty foolish.

1:24 twist would produce 150 revolutions in a 100yds

1/2 of a rev per foot X 300ft = 150 revs

If the barrel is rifled 1 revolution per 24 inches (BM factory twist) and the bullet exits going 2412fps then wouldn't the bullet, at muzzle exit, be spinning at 1206 rev/sec or 72,360 RPMs?

I just bought a CVA single shot hunter rifle in a 450 Bushmaster. It has a 25 inch barrel. Mounted a 3-9x40 Nikon BDC scope on it. Seems to shoot well. Sighted in at 55 yds. It will shoot 2 through the same hole and 3rd one out just a bit. Using the Hornady Black 250 gr FTX. The ammo box says 2200 fps. was wondering how much that changes through a 25 in barrel.

I don't hunt at night it is illegal here in BC Canada so I've no need for a illuminated reticle.

I just purchased a Ruger American in 450 BM when it gets here I will be mounting a Leupold VX1 2-7x33mm LR reticle scope.

Max shooting/hunting distance on game for me will be 200 yards trajectories of the 450 BM look very similar to my T/C Contender carbines in 45-70 I zero these 1" high at 100 yards making the tip of the bottom reticle post dead on at 200 yards.

The LR reticle will give me more hold points for possibly further distances.
