Can those that have shot this upgraded version of the 450 Bushy chime in on their impressions? Is the main difference that you can shoot hotter loads? Is the recoil the same or stronger with these hotter loads? Can you still shoot factory ammo from Hornady, etc?

Gas tubes are pretty vanilla at first glance and yet there are so many out there with subtle (and not so subtle) differences that have got to make a difference on way or the other. Is there a consensus on the preferred tube for a 'Vette mod?

Also, about gas blocks ... is there any reason I would want an adjustable block (seems overly complicated) on a 'Vette?

Not necessary. I reuse the existing gas block..

Well, my experimental upper is finally off to wildcatter.

I made an 18" faster twist barrel sans gas port. Looking to push 300+ grainers. Will see how it goes.

Yeah, and I look forward to it. If I remember correctly the barrel you made up has a 16t bore. That will be especially more better-gooder for those 300gr plus bullets. If I were going back to Alaska to hunt Monster Bruins I'd make a 16t barrel just for the 325gr Barnes Busters (For the new guys..I designed that bullet for Barnes.)..

PSS... I was shooting the 450 Corvette today with Factory Fodder. Hokie-Smokes, I really like what we do for the standard 450b. I shoots 250gr FTX's as if it were made to do so. Oh, Wait, it was made to function the Hornady Fodder at 2200fps and then I slip is some of my specials and the same bullet is hovering at 3000fps. You can get more speed, but the safety margins go down. And some of the guns won't do the 3000fps speeds (there are variables to deal with)...t

The only thing to ever get TSD's face out of a plate of S'mores is when I told him to look at the Chrony after a so-called Mild Load with 230's easily turned up 3000fps!

Witness the Barnes 200gr. Not your 230's but significantly longer..

My barrel is a 1:12 twist. I want to test out bullets from 275 to 360 grains in the .450BMC. I might have gone too far, but that is what testing is for right?

Right, yup might be a bit much for 275's and I've had bullets blow-up, down range with a 16t and 230's, but I suspect the 325's to 500's will look really good, with a 12t. And asides this 12t will tell us allot, ah-cause I ain't ever done that tight of twist. I expect the truly heavies to excel with it and we can get them in weights up to 700grains, shrinking them down (.458's to .452's) ain't-no-thing!!
