Need help on new Ar 450 bushmaster build

Postby BigCZ » Fri Jul 13, 2018 10:57 pm

Im currently building an AR 450 bushmaster for use with deer hunting. I live in Iowa and we hunt in a "push" and "post" type group. I always push the deer to the posters and rarely enjoy sitting in the freezing cold waiting for the deer to be pushed towards us. My thought behind my 450 build is something light weight, short barreled, minimal recoil, and optics for quick reaction. Typically I carry a Browning A5 automatic that hits like a mule but want to try the AR platform this year. Im building it completely my self. I have an Aero Precision upper, which I milled out to eject the 450, Aero Precision lower, I built myself, a Mission First Tactical Minimalist stock, and has a Bear Creek 16inch barrel. (Not many choices for 450 16inch barrels) My questions are this 1) I need a good muzzle break / compensator for a 5/8x32 thread. Any one have good suggestions for the muzzle device that reduces recoil? I dont really care about noise or flash since Im used to shooting a brusier of a shotgun. 2) Im used to hunting with a single bead sight on my shotgun barrel. Most dear I take down are while walking and kicking up the deer and are pretty close range. Im thinking a decent reflex sight but dont want to spend a large amount of money on a sight. Anyone have experience with a decent reflex sight that can handle the 450? My buddy has gone through 2 of them because of the recoil. Shotgun specific reflex sight be a good choice?

Ask Ross Schuler about that odd thread, he might be able to do that. rem40xb1@msn.com Weird Bear Creek would use an oddball like that.

Personally, I prefer a 1-4x scope over a reflex, but that's just me.

Shot my 7.5inch palmetto armory pistol on the aero precision lower I built today. Pretty satisfied with it for the price.

I just built a similar set up. I went 14.5 on the DeadShot barrel and pinned a comp to get 16.2. Something to consider is an adjustable gas block. I used an Odinworks with the click adjustable and works well. The AGB tames things down and keeps the brass in the same zip code.
A brake is not needed for this caliber, especially if used to shooting a slug gun. It just adds weight and noise. Try without first and if you want you can always add one later.
