New Anderson Mfg Barrel Review

Postby Pathfinder » Sat Jan 19, 2019 4:56 pm

Anderson Manufacturing just released a 450 BM Barrel, a complete upper, and a complete rifle.
I've never been disappointed with any Anderson components I've used before, so what the heck, I ordered the barrel for $153.00.

Nothing fancy: 18" chrome moly vanadium, heavy contour, mid length gas, 1:24 twist, 0.75" diameter at gas block, 5/8 x 32 threads.

Barrel extension was a nice snug fit in my upper receiver from Mid State Firearms. Used my BCG from Stoner.
Anderson lower with a Rock River 2 stage 3.5 lb Varmint trigger.
Anderson Mfg did NOT disappoint today. We're blizzarding here in Ohio today, so I was limited to just 70 yards in my warehouse .
Ran the first 30 rounds through without a single hitch. Group pic is 5 shots. The rest of groups were all similar. I love this round.
Load was 225 gr FTX over 40 grains of Lil Gun, CCI 41 primers, mixed brass.

Anderson has always seemed gtg ,and economical.glad to hear you had good results. I run the same load and get similar results also.. actually starting to think I like the 225ftx the best.

Nice group! I’m reasonably sure the Anderson barrel is made by Bear Creek, as Anderson is a Bear Creek dealer. My 18” barrel,is sold as an XX-Treme Barrel Co. barrel, and I’m pretty sure it’s a Bear Creek too. It has the same markings of the Bear Creek, and the 5/8x32 muzzle threads.

My 16” Bear Creek barrel arrived a couple days ago, and the markings are identical to the XX-Treme. Nothing wrong with Bear Creek, as they make a lot of house brand barrels. Also, my 18” groups the same as yours with a very similar handload. I hope my 16” does as well.
