TargetsportUSA.com has Hornady FTX 250gr ammo in stock! Free shipping if you buy a case!

They have a small wait time but its not near as bad as it use to be, 3-5 to process order 2-3 weeks to ship. Thats down from 25 days to process and 3-4 weeks to ship a few weeks ago.

It says SST, which I believe is the same as FTX. They changed the name for some reason but the bullet itself is the same. Some one correct me if Im wrong.

The FTX is the flex tip, like you see in the 30-30 type loads. Possibly just a Typo.

The SST is a different bullet. It has a rubber tip like the FTX, but I believe it is made out of a harder composite and is designed to get more penetration before expanding. However, the SST is not made in 45 caliber, so it may well be a typo.

I checked, and according to the Hornady website, the only center fire rifle ammunition currently loaded in FTX is the M1 .30 Carbine.

They have this to say about the SST ammo: "The sharp point of the SST increases its ballistic coefficient, making it faster and flatter shooting. On impact, the tip also initiates controlled expansion at all velocities."

Not necessarily.

This has been covered before Here. I ate those words about 300 yards BTW. Read on

They can be purchased Here. Those folks are good people to deal with and their prices on other .451/.452 bullets are very good.

I bought some, loaded them and other 300s up, but never wrote the range report because I could not get them to stabilize in my 20" 1:24 barrel at what I felt were safe pressure.

Those of you with tighter chambers, who wish to kick them harder may get the RPM necessary to stabilize and by that I mean, get them to group tight like the 200s, 225s, 250s and 275s. In their defense, I gotta say, I haven't gotten any of the 300gr bullets, be they HotCor, DeepCurl, XTP, or those SST/ML to shoot tight groups like the lighter bullets. For those seeking minute of hog, I don't say minute of deer because they are overkill for deer, anyway, the accuracy I got with them is very adequate for hogs or hard to stop game at the 100 yards I was shooting them at. I'm just an accuracy freak.
