450 LM "LeGendre Magnum"

Drum Roll Please!!
I brought the idea up to Tim and he had been thinking about it for awhile. Just not enough time to do it. So, I provided the rifle, Tim provided the expertise to modify it and now I'm going to finish the development under Tims direct supervision. I've never done a WildCat before! But, I think I'm in good hands.Image
Rifle is Armalite AR-10
Barrel is a 20" .4515, 1 in 40T. Rifle "308" gas tube.
Case is a 284 opened up to 45 cal. trimed to 2.09
I'm going to start with 230gr. FMJs over 296. :D

Schwing! Image

Now how about one necked down to .429? Ala .458 Socom? Imagine, a real shoulder to headspace upon! Or does that risk too much bolt thrust?

I don't know. But, I will say the AR 10 bolt is pretty heavy duty! and the locking lugs are pretty beefie!
I have seen a 284 on the AR10 frame. or should I say the Big Block AR ;)

Did you have to crimp with the resizing die to get the bulge down for it to thunk? Been there, done that. Not good. Swages the bullet way below caliber and accuracy suffers. :|

Al, yes, 1 in 40" twist.
Hoot, the 284 case out at the mouth is pretty uniform down to where the shoulder Was and when you stretch it out to 45cal. it's about the same as the 450B brass.
