Yes, It Was a Nice cheaper scope! with all the bells and whistles that came with the AR10 when I bought it . Kind of if fie on a .308/150gr.
When 1/8moa goes to 1/4 or more and the knobs fall off :o No point in chasing a "0".
Sacrifice a scope to push the ballistic envelope and prove a point for recoil reduction. Time for a new recoil reducer! and a scope

I would like to see how well a Nikko Stirling holds up to that beast.

Gunny a Minion? Well, maybe not a Minion but something more like a Munchkin, from the Wizard of OZ!

Yup, he shot the the Scope Knobs right off. You can go cheap, but it better be "GOOD" cheap. That scope might have eventually suffered on the 450b, as well.

As far as Kikko Stirling goes, I am sending him one and we'll soon find out, how well it holds-up. Actually I don't expect any problems as the Spring-Gun Guys, of the Pellet-Gun Crowd, say this is one of the better scopes for there use. In as much as a spring gun is way more damaging to scopes, than can be done from a more normal weapon (I have shot/love them for long years and they have not failed me yet, and as you may think, I do shoot allot). The pellet gun guys love the Nikko, thus I don't expect a problem, but as I say, We'll Soon Find-Out..

The scope survived the 308 and 450 Bushmaster with off the shelf recoil reducers.
The 450 LeGendre Magnum is another beast capable of kicking your teeth loose with just a 230 FMJ, 350 grn. bullets will hurt you if not for getting the gas action working and custom reducer with recoil pad. (recoil pads are pillows, they reduce felt recoil, your optics get actual recoil before the gas action or muzzle brake effect).
I have a proto type reducer ready for testing on the 450B and 450LM.
Thanks W.C. I will be gentle with her! ;)

This is some kind of sickness. Wonder about the AP applications? Should do the job, eh? LOL

Lets see numbers against a .50 BMG?

All adjusted (using QL) for a twenty inch (20" barrel)

TKO = Taylor Knock Out, which many say, as do I. is a better measurement as to, what to expect in field results, even though TKO is not perfect, it's way better than Ft/Lbs energy. Example; I can make a .223/55gr bullet go 4000fps with a ft/lb energy of 1954ft/lbs and a factory 30-30 150gr has ft.lb energy of 1902ft/lbs, 52 ft pounds less than the 223. Now, who here would argue that killing Moose would be better done with a 223, generally speaking (yeah, I know and many have dispatched moose with a 22 LR, which is why I used the word "Generally"). The TKO's are 7 vs 15.8 respectively. In this example TKO show much better results and is the reason why Professionals generally use Taylor.

Most of what follows was obtained from published Factory Loadings (http://www.reloadbench.com/gloss/rfactspec.html). At this sight the loads were for 24" barrels some were 26" and the 50BMG was for a 45" (the 50 was from Gov stats), by putting this data into QL I could punch in 20" barrel and this is what the posted numbers, are for a 20" barrel.

Assuming I got the numbers correctly, they reflect against each other as follows:

223 55gr @ 3200 fps = 3.6 TKO

308 150gr @ 2717fps = 11.3 TKO

30-06 150gr @ 2776fps = 18.3 TKO

300wm 150gr @ 3124fps = 20.6 TKO

338WM 250gr @ 2674fps = 25 TKO

375H&H 270gr @ 2575fps = 37.2 TKO

458WM 500gr @ 1967fps = 39.9 TKO

450LM 230gr @ 3035fps = 45 TKO

460WBY 500gr @ 2558fps = 52.4 TKO

450LM 350gr @ 2480fps = 56 TKO

50BMG 663gr M33 Ball @ 2400fps = 98.6 TKO

.700 LeGendre Magnum (don't ask, can't give specifics yet, though comments are welcomed, to be announced soon enough) = 175 TKO

AGAIN, these were all adjusted, for bullet speed, as if they were being fired from a 20" barrel..

Don't forget the girl you came to the dance with, the 450B:

450B 200gr at 2500fps = 32 TKO
450B 250gr at 2200fps = 36 TKO
450B 300gr at 2000fps = 39 TKO

Given that all of them best the .338WM at the muzzle, they are good to go for anything in North America.

Got that right!!

And even smokes the 375 H&H.

The 450 LM is a State of the Science exercise and isn't for everyone, whereas the 450b is settled Science (though developing) and should be for anyone!

Anyone? Heck yeah, I don't want to carry an 06 or 300wm or.... anymore, what say you??
