In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

Finally got out and put another 40 rounds thru my rifle and the swiping is all but gone. Have four of forty that show a little imprinting, but nothing like before. FWIW, factory loads from 20 inch barrel, 40* F, 3500 altitude averaged 2290 fps. Low of 2258 and high of 2331. Mind you I only got five thru the chrony before the weather got the better of me, started to drizzle a bit. Then played down and took a few at long distance, .45 mile according to odometer on pickup. Took three to see splash, then held over half the reticle and was hitting 12x18 piece of firewood with last two. Now I ain't saying I would take that shot at an animal, but it was kinda fun. Also have some pictures of 1/2 hot roll steel plate target at 115 yds. Will get them up tomorrow, but the 450 did less damage to steel than 223 with 55 gr. fmj. Didn't really get to shoot for accuracy at 100 had a wicked crosswind, but shot with the wind for distance.
Go big... or go home.
