Crush Washer for Ross Brake

Postby carsoca2 » Fri Feb 03, 2012 6:16 pm

I received my Ross brake the other day for my 16" 450 and absolutely love it. Great product for a great price. However, I was not able to get it spun all the way around to get the holes upright on it. Does anyone know the size of crush washer I'm going to need to make this happen? The stock washer that came with the Izzy brake is a little too big. I measured the gap at approx 1/16". Any help would be much appreciated.

They look like what I need, but they want to charge me $12 to ship a $5 set of shims!

Call them.

I bet the shipping cost is automatic with the store software. There is no reason that can't be stuck in a padded envelope and shipped first class for $1.70.

I'll throw in for a couple of sets to help distribute the shipping cost. You an send me mine for a 45 cent stamp in an envelope. I never have enough shims.

I'm sure others would be happy to get in on a set or two. As Dawg already said, plumbers tape works great, is cheap and as an added bonus, seals the threads so that cleaning solvents do not wick back into them. Some solvents like copper removers can seriously corrode neglected threads. I encourage anyone who uses it to remove your brake from time to time and clean up both the muzzle and brake threads, while you still can.

I think you can find the shims on fleabay under muzzle breaks.

Just looked. You can get 10) 5/8" ones for $15 shipped. I'd still throw in for a group buy for altruistic reasons. Hopefully 5/8" ones work on a 9/16 thread. Reaming them is tedious touch labor, but beats the hell out of having them too sloppy.
