rubber coating?

Postby Coyote Jones » Wed Feb 15, 2012 7:03 pm

I'm new to the .450 and am actually still waiting on my upper to arrive. I was curious to see if anybody has ever tried to use something to coat the free float tube with rubber? Pretty much make it like the Hogue that is rubberized. I know they make tool handle coating in a can for tool handles, but am not sure if there is anything else on the market I can use. I'm building my lower and would also like to know if anyone has used a Stag with their builds. So far I have a Stripped Stag lower, Timney skeleton trigger with a Phase 5 Tactical winter triggerguard to give me some glove room. I'm thinking of going with a Magpul ACS or their rifle stock that is coming out this spring. Any ideas or recommendations :?: This is going to be my new deer rifle.

I have two Stag Arms Lowers one on my Thumper and the other on my Grendel. They are good to go.

I cut a section of motorcycle inner tube and slid it on.

I used a Mako GL stock on my recent lower build. There is information here http://www.450bushmaster.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=223&p=27415&hilit=mako+gl+lower#p27415 and here http://www.450bushmaster.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47&p=27133&hilit=mako+gl+lower#p27133.

Some pretty good ideas, here. Saving a nickle when 6 cents for the Hogue is a consideration. But, I have used "Trunk Paint" found at any auto store, comes in many multicolor schemes and has rubber globules in the paint that grab your hand wonderfully well..

I wonder if Tommy Tape would work?

Folks also report good results using a stretchy, neoprene water bottle cover.
