This may be a stupid question but is the 450 bolt carrier inter changeable with a standard 556 carrier. I know the bolt its self is different. just wondering this is my first ar so I don't have anything to compare it to......yet :)

The carrier it self is the same.

Yes, you can use a full-auto bolt carrier and the additional weight would be icing on the cake.

Thereis a guy at arfcom named syd-jai that did a SBR setup and ran it on a FA lower that I asked to post about it over here. This post is about 3/4 down on http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=121&t=515274&page=2.

You might be able to call Remington and see if they will sell you just the barrel as their R-15 .450B's are 18" barrels.

I have two Remington 700s, one Savage Model 11, one Savage Model 12, one Browning BAR, one Browning A-bolt, one Winchester Model 94 and one Remington 742. None of them has a barrel shorter than 20 inches. I've hunted in some god-awful thickets, willow stands, even standing corn, and I can not claim one missed shot because of the barrel length in the 44 years I've been hunting. Admittedly, I'm not kicking in doors in Kanduhar, but who here is using their 450b for that? A 20 inch barrel is hardly considered a benchrest length. I don't understand the quibble.

BTW, the R-15 barrel looks like a Bushmaster barrel with the threads ground off. Anyone ever put one next to a Bushmaster with the Izzy flash hider removed?

Ding, Ding, Ding..the Remmy 450b is in fact made by Bushy, and bushy might just sell you an 18 incher, you'll need to call them. I did hear that all the barrels were going on uppers, with none being offered as surplus yet, but call them anyway and find out..t
