Just got me a box today. Thanks everyone for the "coverage".

I was just wondering if it would be OK to put them over the barrels of my other guns while storing them out side the safe just to make sure nothing crawls in the barrel and makes a nest. Never thought of that before the threads here. I have a lot of spiders where I live and always cut up a piece of cloth coated in oil and stuck it in the barrel (especially my shotgun) after I clean them. I felt it served two purposes, let me know that that gun was clean and kept the dust out of the barrel.

I have used them on various rifle barrels and my single shot
410. Sometimes you have to cut a little slit for barrels with
Front sights.

My concern with plugging or capping the end of a gun barrel while it is stored is the lack of air {moisture!} circulation moving freely through the barrel. I wouldn't do it. I always run a patch thru my barrels before I shoot them anyway, to clear any oil or debris that has potentially found its way in there since it was last fired.

I never thought about the moisture issue. I think you are correct. The guns that are out of my safe are usually for a quick "grab and go". I will have to rethink the moisture issue. Thanks for the input.

I don't store my firearms with the "finger cots" on the muzzle.
Since they are in a safe, and I don't have a critter problem in the house
due to a very diligent rat terrier, I see no need for it. But there may
be some validity about moisture buildup in a barrel with "extended" use
of finger cots. I guess it all boils down to climate control.
