SheepDawg made it through the plate!

Don't think this has been posted yet, but I felt it was worth the post seeing as how sheepdawg has put so much effort into getting through this 7/16" steel plate (formerly thought to be 3/8").

Nice work!!!

It's pretty well covered in the latter pages of his Magtech 230gr Testing thread in the Reloading for the 450b sub-forum. Not much left after the plate.

With respect, this misses the point. How many Cape Buffalo wear 7/16" boiler plate? We did some experiments with a 2200lb Beef cow bull, and using 230FMJ-FP's they Swiss-Cheesed the animal from any direction. Of course, there wasn't much left of the animal, cept'en ground hamburger, but the initial shot was a Bang-Flop. But the point is, using the right pistol bullets, at our speeds, there is nothing on the planet, that is safe. Try duplicating the Dawgs Tests, in a 458 Big-Bore AR, at their speeds and you'll be woefully disappointed. And they scoff at our mere pistol bullets, because they use the "Real Rifle Bullets", which they do, but so do we and they cant touch our Terminal Results, with their stretched pistol cartridge, period, no excuses..

You guys are taunting me to put more holes in that plate, aren't you? Let me create a new project. Stay tuned.

A water jug behind the plate?
Maybe use the plate as a handy cap for the others.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict the expansion will be great. ;)

Dawg, I think you've just got a negative attitude toward steel plates...did you hit your head on one as a child? :)
