Spikes ST-T3 Tungsten Powder Buffer reveiw

Postby cptrifeg2 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:45 pm

I've been running a a collapsible EMOD stock on my 450 BM 20 inch as I like to stalk when I hunt vs. drive up and shoot. I also found firing 120 + rounds while target shooting/ zeroing with the crap drop in 3 ounce buffer that comes with stock Milspec tubes and a stock spring causes some brass damage as well as a sore shoulder and cheek. I went with a Spikes ST-T3 Tungsten Powder Buffer and enhanced buffer spring for M4 carbines.

and a Ross Brake.

I know there is a lot knowledge out there about heavier buffers slowing the action and being better, but I had no idea of the difference in 2.4 ounces. The T3 is 5.4 ounces which is a really good weight for the collapsible stock buffer. The physical jump just by using the buffer and new spring make a HUGE timing difference and got rid of the brass eating issue. Put the Ross brake on top of that and the kick is now a shove and I can actually feel the action slowed against my cheek. The next step just for target shooting and longer shooting days is to insert a 3.5 inch recoil reducer inside the void when the stock is fully extended..with a little bit of stiff rubber tubing to fill the voids..I bet I end up with a push no greater than a 223. :) I couldn't be happier with my current setup. :)
