If you had a choice of 16", 18", or 20" barrel.

Talk about the AR15 style rifles chambered in 450 Bushmaster.

Let's say bushmaster had come out with all 3 barrel lengths, which one would you have chosen and why? I think I'd chose the 18", but am curious what you would choose.

Thanks.

Two other factors come into play here.
What Twist rate?
Which length Gas System?

That's fine. What setup would you prefer including twist and gas system? I'd like to hear from all of your experience.

Thanks.

I could be wrong but aren't the 16" & 20" both 1:24 twist?

From Bushy you can get all three lengths. Remmies, was indeed an 18 incher and Bushmaster always did make Remmies weapons. You might have to call Bushy to get it, though..

So would you stick with the one you have or would you opt for another length/gas system?

I apologize, but to me, you're asking the quintessential "Great Taste"-"Less Filling", question. For me it helps to define the Mission and insert your needs..

It's not me, I'd prefer an 18" I believe but I was curious about others and their rationale for their choices and if they could do it over again and if all things being equal-meaning all three barrel lengths were available and about the same price, which they would go with. Many times people have buyers remorse in that they get something and upon using it wish they had another option to make it a little better. I'm just curious.

Thanks.

I bought mine in 20" for the performance edge and since I don't plan on using it as a brush gun or in other "carbine" environments. I have since bought an AR in 308 with an 18" barrel and I really like the heft of it so if I had a do-over I might go with the 18" on Thumper. I suspect that a mid-length gas block might keep it from being overgassed.
My Daddy was wrong when he said: "When a man turns 60 he ought to be able to trade his testicles in on a new set of teeth." Oatmeal and soup don't sound too bad.
