Izzy easily removed?

Postby Despotes » Sun Sep 16, 2012 2:56 pm

I just placed an order for the Ross brake and curious if the Izzy will give me a tizzy.
Also, are new crush washers necessary or do the brakes line up real close w/o?

Bushmaster sells them, theoretically,...P/N TD308002-3....or a popular alternative is to just use teflon plumber's tape.

my Izzy came off easily. I also opted for the plumbers teflon tape for break timing. With the crush washer you would have to replace it every time you take the break off.

The Izzy comp will come off pretty easy. You will find Teflon Tape a much more desirable option. It makes the brake easier to tune and also helps prevent solvents from getting in the threads. And it's CHEEP.

My Ross brake is installed and Cerama-Coated. Looks great.
I used teflon tape and used the crush washer to fill the unsightly gap.

Looks good, I like the finish.

I got the SS version and I bead blasted it, degreased it and then phosphated it with Insta-Blak SS-370. They will send you an 8 oz Sample bottle for $10.00 shipped, which is a phenomenal deal. I've since used it on other SS parts. I like to tap my gas tube to gas block pin holes and use two SS button head screws coming in from each side. I Treated them and they match the block perfectly.
In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

I may have to get some of that, I've got a stainless JP brake that could use that treatment.
