In case anyone's interested in planning ahead for your 450LM conversion, CTD just listed the DPMS LR-308, 24" SS, Flat top, for $965:

BTW, I'm guessing they're not going to last too long at less than $1000...now, where's that piggy bank....

careful now. Armalite can use M14 mags. DPMS uses FN mags. The Mags for the Armalite are in the works. Not sure if the FN mags will work. Don't know why they wouldn't. They will not interchange. Just a word of caution.

Here is a "heads up"

Directly from the Armalite website:

ArmaLite AR-10 Magazines are proprietary magazines. Previously ArmaLite AR-10's used converted M-14 magazines (1st Generation). Today AR-10 Magazines (Generation II) come in many sizes. Each magazine will accommodate ammunition variants used on the AR-10 platform.
*Our AR-10 .308 magazines only work in our AR-10 rifles.

So, it's looking like they no longer take M14 Magazines.

Mine will take M14 mags, Gen1 or Gen2. I have used all of them.

Hopefully all of the new ArmaLites will do that as well, but it's worth checking out before moving ahead.

I agree.. Sitting here looking at all 3.. The Gen2 mags are much closer to the m14 mag then the Gen1. The M14 mag will work if you cut a slot in the left side for the mag catch or lock to hold it in the lower receiver. But, the follower will not engage the bolt catch on the last round. The follower will lock the bolt open on the last round. You have to manually engage to bolt catch to get the M14 mag out. This can be solved by using a Gen1 follower that has a plunger that has to be depress to load the mag and pops out to engage the bolt catch on the last round. another notch has to be milled in the back of the M14 mag for it to work. All in All, The best thing to do is modify the Gen2 mags to accept the 450LM round. I know what needs to be done. Just don't know how to go about doing it. The vertical slots in the front of both mags are there for the 308 shoulder. They have to be removed for the straight walled 450LM . If anyone can do this..Please let me know!! I have several Gen2 mags waiting for you!!! :D

Oh!! and by the way! If you go with a DPMS which uses FN mags you will be facing the same Shoulder problem. :(

Yup...I've been hoping to find a reasonbly priced .45 ACP carbine that will take standard 1911 magazines.

It makes zero sense to get a carbine that would not do this, since I already have so many 1911 magazines for my pistol.
