Post your experiences, tips and tech tricks on magazine modifications for the 450 Bushmaster here. I will start the thread off by posting my video on the basic modification on the older 450 bushmaster five round mags that had a slight issue.

Black Followers, Care and Feeding

I thought Dawg had set up an area for this type of posting, but I be dawg gone if I can find it..

So again today, for the third time, I grab two standard mags (30 rounders), off the pile at random, reach into the bag for two black followers, dissembling the mags to remove the std. followers from the std.mags, I replaced them with the randomly chosen black followers.

Loading the mags, both took twelve rounds, I commenced to firing.

With less than thirty seconds to replace the Followers, I was rewarded with 24 consecutive, flawlessly functioning shots. So, I reloaded and did it again..Humm..Situation Normal.. And this is the third time I've done this, since the Followers came in.

A couple of days ago I did have one thirty rounder that only held nine rounds. I did not take the time to discover why. But it too functioned flawlessly. Prolly the mag and or the follower, just needed a little tweak.

Here in MI, we can only have five round mags for hunting whitetails. So, a duck plug arrangement is necessary. Traditionally, I just whittle on a stick, placing it between the mag spring and the floor plate. But for the last many years, I just substitute the stick for loaded rounds. They can't function through the mag, of course, and Constitutes a legal duck plug, here in MI and in a true survival situation I'd have 7 extra rounds with the rifle..

Seems like I could get in trouble for having Hi Cap (more than 10) mags here in CA let alone modifying them to fit the .450. Sucks to see "LE and Military only" stamped on the side of a typical 30 round mag. :x

We have a lot of 10-20 and 10-30 available but without the plugs they may need new springs in addition to the black (single stack) followers...

Swift, check out www.exilemachine.com. They will disassemble standard cap mags and ship them to Cali, I made a 30rd .223 mag hold 10 - 460b rounds by anchoring a plastic cloths hanger to the bottom of the follower, I'll see if I can find some pics for you. Works great and I have 10rd mags for my .450

Got my black followers in the mail today. I am planning on putting 1 of them in a Lancer polymer mag. I did a test fit and it looks like its gonna fit with just a little bit of trimming, because of the thicker polymer material. I'm really liking the lancer mags because of the metal feed lips and the transparent mag body. Plus they can be disassembled with a simple push of a button. I'm already using these mags with great results. Anybody wanting to try these mags, I'd recommend the advanced warfighter model as I have not tried there other style for the 450, only my 223. The black follower will just be the icing on the cake. Thanks to everyone involved in the black follower group buy! I know Hoot has been waiting for this day for a long time.

I'm expecting my followers in a few days. I have been tinkering with these AR Stoner mags and it looks like I am gonna need a few tips from Hoot. So Hoot, when you get some time, (I know you are hunting this weekend), lay out exactly what you did to yours. Thanx.
