Received an email update about rifles in zone 3 from Rep Lori's office yesterday.

NRC hearing re HB 4283 issues
Rep. Matt Lori (District 59)

Just an FYI for all those interested in the outcome of HB 4283.

Many of you may now know that DNR is proposing to incorporate the content of HB 4283 into their rules for the upcoming hunting season. To this end they are hearing testimony on the proposal at the Natural Resources Commission meeting on May 8th and will be making a decision about it, on June 12th.

I have attached a copy of the Agenda for May 8th, which gives details on how you may forward testimony to the Commission in support of the proposal. The meetings will be held at at MSU Diagnostic Center, 4125 Beaumont Road, Lansing, MI 48910

I have also attached the NRC’s public testimony guidelines and the language being proposed (on page three of the attached document).

I hope this is helpful.

Legend, yup we must be on their list!!! Sort of scary isn't it.

Handgunner, fyi, keep an eye on Palmetto State Armory for good deals on loaded 450 Bushmaster ammo. I recently purchased two boxes of hornady factory loads for a total of $56.98 delivered to my door. My point is, ya can reload the brass. Anytime I've ordered empty non primed brass from different suppliers the cost delivered was ballpark $1.00 for each piece of brass. Locally 250 grain ftx are fifty cents each. When cost of the primer and powder are added in, this is sort of a good way to have ammo to shoot and brass to reload.

PSA runs specials on the Hornady 450 BM ammo on a regular basis. They have the best price I've found.

I found this on the DNR web site. I've watched one meeting in past. The audio and video wasn't the best. Also I think the link is only active just before the meeting starts.

Btw, I went to SW Michigan's largest gunshop and told them about this legislation. No one there knew about it. That really surprised me. You would think that they would be up on the latest gun legislation as it would be beneficial to them....

You are welcome sir.

I have not used my posted link before. If it fails go to the Michigan united Conservation Clubs web site. They usually provide a link to click on the day of the meeting.

You are correct, this issue has not been given enough press. Very few hunters that I talk to know anything about HB 4283. Also, I think that the Michigan DNR may have saw the hand writing on the wall, so to speak. My feelings are that HB 4283 would have passed during this legislative session. Maybe, fingers tightly crossed, we will be good to go this November 15th.
