SBR 11.5" gas piston

Postby WEAZELWACKER » Sun Mar 22, 2015 11:30 pm

I have desided to build my first SBR in 450B, mainly due to the fact that it isnt a reach out and slap things type of cartridge. So why not keep it short for short range.
I would like to bouce my idea off all the 450B vets out there and please be honest.
The build will start with a:
Spartan Side Charge Non-Reciprocating Upper which I will try to pair up with a Seekins Percision SP223 Gen2 Lower,Hiperfire trigger, Mission First Tactical Ultralight AR15 stock,
11.5" Barrel from Franklin Armory, JP Adjustable Gas System (JPGS-8) gas block, Ospery Defence gas piston, and rounded off with one of Grizzly Gunworks muzzel brakes.(porbably the DEFCON1).

If yall have the time please let me know what ya think good or bad.

IMHO bad idea from a muzzle blast point of view. Better idea from the coolness factor point of view, but I bet you won't be shooting it much.

And with all those Mods. You'd better be ready to hunt the Ghosts, that are sure to turn up, when the gun quits working.

But when you do get it running you'll be better off for learning the system..

I would think there would be dwell time problems with the ligjter projectiles. Otherwise it should work ok. Also if this is shorter system you might have extraction occurring to quickly. There isnt an issue with residue gunking up a gas tube system so keep the pistons away until the gun runs reliably. If you arent looking into some serious troubleshooting dont do it. if you have lots of spare parts on hand I would say go for it and let us know how it went
Keep it simple. You might be surprised at the range this cartridge has in the stock form

Very nice. I'm glad you went ahead with the build!
