Hello all, new to the Thumper world. Just picked up my complete upper a couple of weeks ago. It will be sharing the lower with my regular .223/5.56 which has a QD type sling attachment at the front. Does anybody know how I can replace the normal sling attach that comes from BM with a QD type attachment?? There's no holes or rails on the hand guard.

couple of options I can think of.

get a railed gas block or screw a short rail to the handguard, then get a clamp on QD.

Ok, I decided to try the Mount-N-Slot Limited Rotation QD mount made by Impact Weapons Components (picked up from Primary Arms). It was kind of pricey for what it is, but it works perfect. You have to drill a hole in the handguard, but was still super easy to mount.

https://www.primaryarms.com/Mount_N_Slot_Rotation_Limited_Quick_Detach_Sling_T_p/sqdrlr5.htm

It has a curved base which perfectly matches the radius of the handguard:

I decided I want to keep the original sling mount for a future bipod install:

Sorry about the flowerdy background - just threw them on the bed for a quick pic.

that's slick, thanks for the link.

was going to suggest whatever way you went, to mount it at least 90* from bottom. Last fall when carrying mine in front, it wanted to lay flat.

Finally was able to get the Thumper out to the range yesterday. I was really impressed with the accuracy. Probably the most accurate rifle I own. AND it makes huge holes in the target!

Very first shots out of the upper at 50 yards - didn't even clean it first! After shot 1, adjusted the scope down and to the right. After shot 2, adjusted scope to the right more - a little too much, but I wanted to get a 3 shot group.

After making some more adjustments for windage to the left, and calculating to hit 2.5" high at 100yds. I was starting to anticipate the recoil, so I'm sure the rifle is capable of even tighter groups at 100yds. This is a different target and the paper was a little bit away from the cardboard - that's why the holes are ragged.

I shot the rest of that box of Hornadays, and boy is my shoulder sore today!

Depending on what butt stock you are using, try a recoil pad. I use one like this on my Mako GL adjustable stock - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/236135/kick-eez-recoil-pad-slip-on-fits-ar-15-m4-carbine-collapsible-stocks-sorbothane-black?cm_vc=ProductFinding. I had to trim the "ears" to get it to fit that non standard butt stock, but it works well.

I've shot 100 rounds in a session with no ill effects.
