Muzzle Breaks and timing and supressor mounting

I want to suppress my 450BM. Just looking to make it hearing safe. I know the suppressor is going to be big. I have an approved form one, a 12" Ti tube. and plan on doing the D cell freeze plug thing (I've built 30 cal and 22 suppressors this way already).

When I'm not running suppressed I want to add a break and tame my rifle just a bit... got a wife and a little girl who may shoot it... So I got the manufacturer (SD Tactical Arms) of the tube and suppressor mount to make a muzzle break in 11/16x24 (the factory thread for 450BM's by Bushmaster). http://sdtacticalarms.com/SDTA-Muzzle-Break_p_65.html

Problem is I can't find any shims to time the break properly (its a bad idea to use crush washers on muzzle devices that mount suppressors... they can cant just a slight bit and cause baffle strikes...especially on a can long enough to tame the 450BM... ie 12").

Was thinking I'd prefer a simple jamb nut, but I cant find one thin enough... Can any one help?

i think the right way would be to use a peel washer. i recall seeing a post about it somewhere on here in a discussion on timing a ROSS break.

what i wouldnt be able to even being to help with would be a peel washer of the proper size we need for the thread size on this caliber.

maybe someone here as a good source for one

google came up with this , but it doesnt say if the PN listed there is for a crush or a peel washer.

since SD was willing to hook you up with a brake, maybe they can help you source a peel washer too, or at least give you a viable option for clocking that brake correctly.

I would give Ross a shout and ask them how they clock their breaks. I know they make them in our thread.

I do not believe that shim kit fits the 11/16-24 standard 450 Bushmaster thread.

Give them a call. They sent me a shim kit for a 11/16 x24 muzzle break. They might sell the kit separately. :P :D

The shim kit comes with the rapid brake only at this time. They don't sell it separately at this time. It is worth consideration if you want a brake that you can use with a can later. Wilson brake with a vers 458 can from Bowers. :P :D

Still looking for shims, or a very thin 11/16x24 nut to use as a jamb nut... I'm building my own from 1 can with the SD tactical tube. So I already have an SD brake.

since SD tactical made the brake for you.. have you tried contacting them about some shims? they may have an option for you - or be able to make one... just thinking out loud

Instead of adding shims you can trim off the rear of the brake. Hone or stone off a few thousands of an inch at a time until at he torque and position of the brake you want is achieved. :P :P :D :D
