Scope Mounts

Postby winman1550 » Wed Dec 07, 2016 9:01 pm

I thank you guys on suggestions on the scope question I asked about. Now I'm looking for the best mounts money wise. I saw the American Defense cantilever mount but the cost seems high to me. Do any of you have any experience with the Leupold AR mount or the Burris PEPR? Those are a little more pocket money friendly. I like a Quick Release mount and use Leupolds on most all my traditional hunting guns. The Burris seems to have that. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. You guys are a great resource for an AR newbie.

Thanks as always,

Greg

i think youll find that the PEPR comes well regarded by many users.

dont have one myself because i prefer 2 peice ring sets - allows me to put the mouth for my brass catcher on the rail between them. with a 1 peice mount, i lose that ability.

several of my guns have the Nikon P Series mounts on them.

IMHO, if you want a QD mount, go with a LaRue or ADM.

If QD isn't that important, and you want a good, solid, lightweight, and affordable one piece mount: look into the Aero Precision Ultralight mounts. They have several versions (Ultralight, Ultralight Extended, Ultralight SPR), with the main difference being the position of the rings (Extended and SPR push the scope further forward).

I have used several over the years, and they are still my go to for scope mounts under $100.

Cheers,
Muad

The Warne Skel is a durable fixed mount.

Thank you guys. I have also read that the UTG mounts are very good. They are a local company (Leapers Inc,) to me here in Mich. I believe there is some mention of them recommended by Wildcatter here on the forum. Anyone use these???

I use Aero Precision ultralight scope mounts.

Light and strong.

utg makes respectable mounts - but make sure you get something that's the right ring height. its real easy to go too low with an AR and then you're either buying another set of rings or adding a set of risers into play.

UTG / Leapers is basically high-end airsoft equipment. I think they make some OK stuff (I even have some of their iron sights on rifles), but I think there's better scope mounts out there for the money.

My 450 has a Nikon M-223 mount on it. With a Leopold 3-9x40 on the rifle, I have cut several 5/8" groups at 200 yards

I have the Burris PEPR on my 450 and the Nikon P-series on an AR. Both are good cantilever mounts, which I think are very useful on the 450.

I have several UTG accessories, including a KeyMod handguard. I think they make a good quality product.
