New BartZ magazine

Postby engineer40 » Wed Mar 15, 2017 6:20 pm

I was driving by the Mason Michigan exit today after a work appointment and at the last minute I remembered reading that BartZ sells 450BM magazines out of "Not Just Guns" there in Mason. Since it's a couple hours from where I live, I swung in quick to see if they had any in stock. Decent little gun shop, my first time there. I was in luck and they had some in stock. I got a 7 round mag for $35.

Looking forward to giving it a try! Feels sturdy! Any of you guys using the BartZ mags?

Yep it is my 5 round hunting mag. After 1 year of use and about 800 rounds through it still works great.

I have one also and yes they have a certain strength to them that I don't feel in my factory Bushmaster mags. Good news is they all work though. I'm no fan of the centering tabs in any of them though. A solution looking for a problem. I took them out of my Bushmaster mags, but left them in the Bartz. Maybe they add to the stiffness of the Bartz mag walls and that gives it that sturdy feeling.

Thanks all!

I have a follower coming from ebay also to modify one of my existing 223 30 round metal mags. I've read reports of guys saying they hold as little as 9 rounds and as high as 12 rounds without malfunction. If I can get 10 to feed consistently, I'll be pretty happy.

I don't know how often I'll need that many rounds of 450BM in a single mag, but it'll be nice to have that option. Especially considering I have a tube fed 12 gauge that holds 10 rounds; sure seems like we should be able to have at least 10 rounds for any cartridge shot from an AR platform! :D

My single follower came today. 9 rounds seem to fit good. Number 10 the nose points much too high. Is that what you guys have noticed too? Thanks!

I picked one up last week from them also. 7 rounder, very nice. Works great.

engineer40...the "too much" nose-up thing can happen, just as you described. The best orientation is just slightly nose-up, or you will get feeding problems. You might also do a site search here for how to tweak the feed lips on metal mags to close them up a bit to adjust the bullet tip position.
