Here is an update on the GLFA Uppers. I have the GLFA (Great Lakes Firearms and Ammo) 18" SS 450 BM Upper I just bought. it has mid length gas tube if you care. They are not out of business. They are located in Sparta MI. I called down there and talked to Nick. He was super helpful. He said if I had any issues he was there to help. I believe he said he builds and test fires them all. That is why I try to buy local. The only bad I had was a bolt cam pin that was a little tight, nothing GLFA made. I switched out with another I had and no problems. The forearm guard is nothing fancy but cuts weight and works as a handguard with mlok slots. I went out Sunday 10-22-17 to sight in. It happens to have a VX3 3-9 scope on it. Not because it is necessary but it was not on another rifle at this time. So first 3 shot group at 50yds was 7/8" center to center once dialed close. Then I moved to 100yds. After getting it dialed in with a box of ammo shot. I don't confirm a new gun until it has a box through it and a few cleanings in between, my process. The first group was 3 shots and 7/8" then i adjusted down and the second 4 shot group was at 1" center to center. I have it on an Anderson lower with a 8lb trigger LPK and 6 position stock. I was very happy how it shot with the crappy heavy trigger. I'm sure I can dial it tighter in the future with trigger work. I paid $498 for the complete upper. I used Hornady black 250 gr ammo. So don't worry and buy one.

I ended up with a 16" bushmaster upper, never could find much information on GFLA >Guess I just did not want to roll the dice.

No complaints on the bushmaster about a 1"1/4 groups @ 100 yards

One-ragged-hole groups always look good to me! Very nice rig.

I purchased one too. The 18" length is perfect. Plenty accurate, and nice and light to carry. They sell there own 5 round mags, which feed good. Don't have anything to compare it to except 223 uppers, but seems like a solid buy for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. When I ordered it I called and talked to the Great Lakes owner directly and he answered several questions I had about it. I'm shooting 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 and 3" at 200. Get yourself one!
