Hello all,

Been lurking the site for a while reading up a lot on the 450BM.
Finally took the plunge last week and got a 20" bushmaster for deer hunting in S.W.Michigan.

Image

Slapped on a Vortex Crossfire II HOG HUNTER scope in a Burris PEPR mount. Also replaced the izzy flash hider with a Ross muzzle brake and swapped the standard pistol grip with a UTG rubber grip. So far I've only fired 30 rounds through it to get the scope dialed in and blow up a few water jugs. I am a reloader, so after I get some dies and collect enough brass I'll be rolling my own.

I have been looking at Crossfire Scopes, but I haven't been able to get a good view of the reticle. Which reticle do you have and do you like it?

Welcome, and nice rig!
You mentioned reloading, I will suggest that you search the site for Hoots CCWS. It will benefit most rifles, but it will really benefit your 20" barrel with carbine length gas system. I believe it was the same upper that he first did it to, to get more out of it. If you don't like to play with lead, there's at least one other option I can think of.

The scope has a rather thin crosshair with a one MOA dot reticle. The dot can be illuminated and has a variable setting, similar to a red dot sight. So far I have done my shooting in bright daylight and have not had to use the illuminated reticle, but for hunting at dawn and dusk I am sure it will prove useful.

Thanks for the tip, I do cast bullets and have a supply of lead....I will research it more.
