Was a Camp Perry today, picking up paperwork for the CMP Fun Matches, Saw .450 Bushmaster Magazines for $20 a pop. Are they worth it and or are there other alternatives out there I should be looking into?

I use standard AR mags, like the 20 round P-mag. I've changed out the followers on some and not on others. They all seem to work, and they run about $12 or so. If you're more comfortable with an OEM mag for the 450, $20 doesn't seem like a bad price.

I have been using straight 20rd magazines with 458 SOCOM followers (CAlegalmags). I de-bur and polish the edges of the feed lips and relieve the front of the magazine similar to the factory magazine. Works well, holds 7 rounds if inserted on an open bolt, 6 rounds for insertion on a closed bolt.

Thanks for the info, still putting rifle together, once together will try the P-mag's, as I have a few 20 rounder's. And go from there.

Hmm...I can't get PMAGs (M3) to even accept the cartridges...? Rib down the front that guides the "nose" of the follower hits the tip of the rounds. Might just be me.

I bought a Lancer L5 AWM Hybrid mag today, has steel feed lips on a polymer body and follower. I think it will need a bit of closing of the gap on the feed lips to keep 450b at correct attitude. Loaded 10 rounds in just to start with, and the spring pressure holds the nose of the first round up too high. Reducing spring pressure and tightening up the gap might get it working. Also going to see what might be done to use this mag in the 30 RAR...need to work around the right-hand feed lip hitting the bolt lug, but I have an idea for that, too.

We'll see what happens...let you know.

I took ten rounders (PMAG) and removed the rib out of the front with really sharp wood chisel, ran 1/2" ball mill down center of follower flush to floor and put beveled radius in front wall. They work great for me hunting with three, you can go four but they get a little fluffy in the lips.

Sounds like a plan...I'll try that. Haven't gotten around to extensive messing with them yet, but this sounds right.

I would like to get the Pmags up and running also. Not a big fan of rattling while hunting.
