I shot it. Wow. It’s not your little .22!

I’m gonna need to do some “tweeking”.

First: the charging handle disconnects. The recoil causes it to unhook and fly back. I don’t know if the enlarged catch is what’s causing it, but I can’t use it! I am going to get one anyway, but I need one with a good catch and/or spring.

Second: recoil spring and/or buffer. I guess an H3 buffer is what I’ll be needing. What about the spring? Is there a heavier spring? Is that the right thing to do?

If you're using factory ammo, then yes it sounds like something isn't heavy enough. Don't ditch the extended release yet. They're pretty handy with a scope on.

It’s been a while.

My rifle’s done and scoped. According to the ballistics chart I should be 4” high at 100 yds to be zero at 200 and 4” low at 230 yards.

(I cant really understand how pics upload to this site but I’ll try...)

Thanks. It’s a budget build. Sixth grade social studies teachers only have so much $$ to work with. (I mean, unless someone wants to buy me the winning PowerBall ticket, since I’m too pessimistic to buy a ticket for myself...). I’m pretty happy with it.

Some small frustrations; I wanted an FDE pistol grip, but I didn’t see one I liked as well in FDE as the black one, so I’ll forgo the cosmetic for function. Also, I need an enlarged trigger guard. If I need to fit a gloved finger in there, it’ll have to be a bit more open. A hunting rifle NEEDS a sling- if I have to drag a deer, I will want my rifle on my back. No place locally carries the sling hardware and sling I need and I don’t have time to get over to Brownell’s, or anywhere like that. I don’t want to order them online because I already got some I’m not happy with. Went to a gun show today and there was nothing.

I wondered about the Bear Creek Arsenal barrel (at under $100 on sale), but the last group of three was about 1.5”. That will kill a deer! I assume it will be more accurate with more rounds, since I’ve only put about three boxes through it so far.

Shot this target Last year with my 12 gauge. I was disgusted at the 100 yard accuracy (the three black dots where I healed it) of 12 ga. slugs- even with a scope and rifled barrel. That’s when I decided to build the Bushy. What I love is that the holes from the Bushmaster are virtually the same size as the holes from the 12 gauge slugs!

Troy makes a nice enlarged trigger guard.
