i would suggest getting a whole BCG if its in the budget, and a charging handle too

not that you need to have it, but but it sure is nice to just be able to grab a complete upper and go without having to fiddle with anything.

two pins, swap, done.

you can always buy a bolt, and wait for a complete 5.56 bcg to come on sale cheap (Like one of the <$50 sales), and then you have both a carrier for your 450 and a spare bolt for your 5.56 too :)

Life's short. If you decide to get a dedicated BCG and 450b bolt to put in it, get a BCG that is either Nitrided or Nickel Boron treated. Yes, they cost a little more but they run really sweet, with easy cleanup. Someone, somewhere always has one on sale. If you have the choice, get the M16 version. They have a little more meat (weight) on them in the rear. More weight makes them easier on the brass. IMHO, avoid BCGs marketed as ultralight or lightweight.

it would depend on the upper itself.

if its a standard generic mil spec upper, you'll etiher need to get a big bore capable one, or get some machining done. the ejection port on a standard 5.56 upper just isnt big enough.

if you could give us some info on the manufacturer of the upper we may be able to help confirm or deny some info for you.

Here's an image I put up a few years back, of a Bushmaster brand 450b ejection port. Measure the one you have and compare. The important dimension is the vertical clearance.

EDIT: That image is upside down the cover detent is on top. Doesn't change the dimensions however.
